Allana Barton (Nelly) Allana auditioned for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She spent two great years improving her craft as preparation for this crazy business we call “show”, studying acting, movement, Shakespeare, stage combat, makeup and more, and making lifelong friends. After AADA graduation she accepted the invitation to the Academy's Production Company, appearing in five shows (including Beyond Therapy and Standing on My Knees). The experience was fulfilling, both on stage and off.
Following her Academy life, Allana appeared in a number of independent films. She did some television, including a couple of pilots and co-hosting gig on cable’s Black Jewish Awareness program (go figure). She also appeared in a national commercial for Wendy’s.
Early post-AADA LA stage credits include a summer at the Occidental Theatre Festival, where she appeared in Pirates of Penzance, The Devil’s Disciple and was a member of the Children’s Theatre Project. Other shows include, Shakin” the Mess Outta Misery, and the premieres of When Paul Robeson Quit the Movies, Death: or the Playground, and The Split (written and directed by Preston Sturges Jr) More recently, she was Oliver in the LA Women’s Shakespeare’s Company’s As You Like It, and one of the witches in Doghouse Theatre’s Macbeth. She wrote and appeared in her first sketch comedy show (and they actually laughed). Allana has never worked at a restaurant, bar, or casino during her acting pursuits (not that there’s anything wrong with that). She has however, worked as a middle and high school substitute teacher (and loves it! Crazy, huh?); for several years taught acting and theatre skills to kids and teens at a non-profit in Compton, CA, and is a part of A World of Imagination (aworrldofimagination.com) which takes historical education programs into elementary schools. She’s been a student advisor at a Film/Video editing training facility. For two years she was Registrar at her acting alma mater, and subbed for a few beginning acting classes. Currently she is the traffic manager at one of LA’s premiere voice over recording studios. Allana had taken a break from on-camera work (though the stage is always close), but is working her way back to the big screen.
Allana became a Knightsbridge member in June 2004 and hit the stage running when she was cast in A Piece of My Heart. She has appeared in nineteen KB shows; some of her favorites include Guys and Dolls (Hot Box Girl), King Lear (Kent), La Cage Aux Folles (Frances), The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Grace), As You Like It (Touchstone) Musical: The Musical (as Lizzie Borden, yes the axe murderer!), Soda Pop (Flo - with 16 teenagers), Macbeezy (An original Macbeth Hip Hopera), and the original project Slanted Salon. She is thrilled to be a part of “Redemption”. Being a part of Knightsbridge has given her a wonderful second family, and a great place to work her craft.
